Sound & Vision – The History of Sound Recording

Embark on a journey through time into the world of sound recording and audio technology --> 
From Edison cylinders to digital streaming, the Sound & Vision exhibition at the Terra Technica Museum presents more than 140 years of sound recording technology.
The exhibition features an extensive collection of historic sound carriers together with numerous playback devices used to reproduce them. From early phonographs and gramophones to tape recorders, wire recorders and cassette players, and finally to CD players and modern digital audio technology, visitors can follow the complete evolution of sound storage.
The exhibition demonstrates how closely the development of sound carriers and playback devices is connected. Each new generation of media brought new technologies – from the mechanical phonograph to the digital music player.
